HABITAT AND LIFE IN THE NATURE OF THE PEARL RED-TAIL PARROT

The species lives in the southern and central parts of the Amazon rainforests in Brazil and Bolivia. They prefer to keep low-lying moist forests and their outskirts at an altitude of about 600 m above sea level.

They are found in small flocks, sometimes in the vicinity of other red-tailed parrots, they often visit reservoirs, bathe and drink water.

They feed on small seeds, fruits, berries, and sometimes insects. Often visit clay deposits.

BREEDING OF THE PEARL RED-TAIL PARROT

The nesting season falls on August – November, and also, presumably, on April – June. Nests are usually built in tree cavities, sometimes in rock crevices. The clutch usually contains 4-6 eggs, which are incubated exclusively by the female for 24-25 days. The male protects and feeds her all this time. The chicks leave the nest at the age of 7-8 weeks. However, for a few more weeks, their parents feed them.
